Welcome to the 2026 Mooring Season!

The Rockland Yacht Club is proud to offer 9 moorings for rent during the 2026 season, running from May 15th to October 15th. 

Mooring Availability

• 5 Moorings for boats under 40 feet: $1,750 for the season 

• 4 Moorings for boats over 40 feet: $1,950 for the season

Our moorings are conveniently located in Rockland Harbor, providing safe and accessible anchorage for a wide variety of vessels. Each mooring is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure your safety and peace of mind.

Important Notes

• Please note that Mooring Rental does not include launch service to rented moorings. Launch service requires you are or become a Full RYC member, or pay the per ride Launch rate. Otherwise you will need to plan your dingy access accordingly.

Rockland Yacht Club Launch Service 

Take advantage of our convenient launch service to/from your boat in Rockland Harbor. Our club launch, “Ginnie T,” is named after Rockland Yacht Club Commodore Virginia Torney (1975) who was recognized by Maine news media as the first yacht club commodore in the state and perhaps the country. The Ginnie T is based at the Rockland Public Landing, near our clubhouse and Harbormaster office. We typically begin service in early June and continue into September (schedule below).

Cost:

• Transport on the launch is a courtesy to all Full members of the Rockland Yacht Club and their accompanied guests.
• For transient boaters visiting, the cost in 2025 is $6/person one way. Payment by Venmo is preferred. Drivers will accept cash (especially for tips!).
• There are multi-trip punch cards available for purchase.

Locations served:

• Rockland Harbor is home to several marinas and boating facilities at which the launch can pick you up or drop you off. We no longer provide rides to the lighthouse or breakwater docks.

2025 schedule (June 6 – September 15):

• Beginning Saturday, June 6 the launch will operate daily from 8:00am until 8:00pm. Launch service will continue through the summer, into September and until the weekend of RYC’s Maine Rocks race (September 13). The last day of launch operation will be Sunday, September 14.

Etchells Fleet Continues to Grow

The 2024 sailing season marked some firsts for the RYC Tuesday night race series.  Our race program was lead by 1st year Race Committee Chair Laura J Shields-Haas, who admirably filled the big shoes of “retired” chair Randy Picklemann. The weather cooperated on nearly every Tuesday evening with consistent breezes  (another 1st!…..unheard of!) and the Fleet enjoyed 38 races over 13 evenings in June, July, August, and September. The Etchells Fleet had 5-6 boats consistently on the starting line and all enjoyed some very spirited one-design. Once the dust had settled, Totalitarian Regime skipped by Jeff Dinse was top boat. 

It appears the rumor mill has it right……the Etchells class is growing! We understand that for the 2025 season, the Tuesday night race series will have as many as  eleven boats on the line. Several new boats have been procured by club members who are already pulling their gear together and getting their teams lined up! And several other boats, from as far as Belfast, are now planning to join the fleet. It seems the excitement is infectious! This is an exciting time for our club to host one design racing on Penobscot Bay.

Of course, other boats are welcome to sail PHRF, either spinnaker or cruising class.  It's a wonderful way to get out on the water and experience the camaraderie of being on the water with a fun group of people.  No or limited racing experience?   No worries- there will be a lot of opportunities to crew on an Etchells and other boats.  This race season the Etchells Fleet plans to re-establish a post-race barbecue and debrief to help all further their racing knowledge and review the evenings on-water situations.
