Some new fees are in place at the park. Campsites are $14, Firewood $5 and moorings are $20; all payable on the honor system. There is a canister on the shore-end of the gangway.

The Ice Breaker Cruise on Saturday (6/20) was attended by INTUITO, LINDA JEAN, MARY ALLISON, RHAPSODY, UNC IV, and WINDQUIST. The sail over to Long Cove on the west side of Vinal Haven was outstanding, the wind being perfectly oriented to accommodate our destination.
The plan was to stay over and enjoy a little downtime and sail back Sunday. However, the weather outlook for Sunday was steadily worsening. We all agreed to meet aboard the Mary Allison for snacks and a talk about whether we would stay in Long Cove or head for home into the sunset.
It was decided that we should “bug out.” By 1800hr we were all underway to the safety of our moorings in Rockland.
The sail back across the bay was even better than the morning. INTUITO, UNC IV, RHAPSODY & WINDQUIST all arrived in the mooring field well before 2000hr. UNC IV lead by about a mile.
Come Sunday morning we were happy that we had made the decision to return early. We avoided some real physical discomfort and ensured everyone’s safety. That’s why we go together and confer.
This was a fine outing. We’re all looking forward the 4th. and the Ladies’ Cruise on the July 18th ans 19th.
